垂大使による鄧励・外交部副部長からの申入れに対する反論（Counterargument by Ambassador TARUMI Hideo to Vice Minister DENG Li of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China）

8月4日午後、垂大使は、鄧励・中国外交部副部長から同日発出された「台湾海峡の平和及び安定の維持に関するG7外相声明」について申入れを受けた際、以下のとおり日本側の立場を申し入れた上で、中国側が直ちに軍事演習を中止するよう強く求めました。
1 今回の中国による一連の軍事演習は、地域の平和と安定を損うものである。
2 とりわけ、日本との関係では、日本の排他的経済水域を含む日本近海に訓練区域が設定されており、重大な懸念を表明する。
3 また、中国が発射した複数のミサイルが日本の排他的経済水域に着弾した可能性があるとの情報に接しており、これが事実であれば、決して受け入れられず、強く抗議する。日中関係の局面が大きく変化することになろう。

In the afternoon of August 4, in response to the demarche by Vice Minister DENG Li of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China on the G7 Foreign Ministers’ Statement on Preserving Peace and Stability Across the Taiwan Strait, Ambassador Tarumi conveyed Japan’s position as follows and strongly urged the Chinese side to immediately stop military exercises.

1. A series of military exercises by the People’s Republic of China this time undermine regional peace and stability.
2. In particular, in relations to Japan, the areas of military exercises designated by the People’s Republic of China include waters close to Japan including Japan’s Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ), and Japan expresses serious concerns about it.
3. In addition, there is information that indicates the possibility of multiple missiles fired by the People’s Republic of China falling into the Japanese EEZ. If that is the case, Japan can never accept such action and lodges a strong protest. Such development may significantly change the situation surrounding the Japan-China relations.
